Mountain Adventure Guides offers half, full-day and multi-day whitewater rafting, caving and rock climbing adventures and packages for groups. No experience is required and MAG provides all technical gear. Rustic lodging is available in Crockett Cabin (just bring your sleeping bag) on the Nolichucky River, as well as any meals you require.
The White Water Rafting Experience:
For over 30 years, church youth groups, scouts, families, camps, schools and others have been rafting in the mountains of NC and TN to experience Mother Nature at her finest.
Rafting youth groups come for a variety of different reasons - some for the fresh air, some for the natural beauty of the mountains, and some for the thrill of the river. All left with an indelible memory of a wonderful wilderness adventure.
But there is more to rafting than a wonderful wilderness adventure. Whitewater rafting is a compelling interactive, teaching tool for Youth Group Leaders. Not only does rafting get our youth away from the TV and in to the fresh air, but they love it, they pay attention, they listen, and they remember what they have seen, felt, and learned. It provides a metaphor for life values and a frame reference from which to teach these values.
Whitewater rafting, caving and climbing are the perfect way to teach your youth the benefits of the outdoors. To appreciate nature is to truly touch the human spirit. High Adventure Packages and Camps for youth groups
Mountain Adventure Guides has many years of experience offering rafting and rock climbing adventures in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. In addition to rafting and climbing, we offer outdoor activities including mountain biking, caving, and backpacking. Located off of I-26 in Erwin, TN, with the adjacent Nolichucky River and Appalachian Trail, this area is a perfect setting for an outdoor camp for your group. Many groups have combined a rafting and climbing trip with backpacking to or from our basecamp on the Appalachian Trail! There is also an adjacent commercial campground and nearby primitive camping in Cherokee National Forest.
The Nolichucky River has two sections. The Nolichucky River Gorge (minimum age 10 or 12) is Adventure Class with fun, technical rapids and drops. The Lower Nolichucky River (minimum age 4) is Family Class with small, playful waves and is a great first time duck trip at normal water levels. We offer 1/2 and full day rafting trips on the nearby French Broad River, too (minimum age 8).
