MAG facilitates icebreakers, initiatives and teambuilding activities for groups at our outpost on the Nolichucky River. Call or email for more information and pricing. If you are emailing for more information, let us know your approximate group size and goals.

Icebreakers

An hour long event to help your group or warm up and/or to become more comfortable with one another. The atmosphere can be fun and light or more serious depending on your needs. Icebreakers can be a terrific tool for groups who may not know one another well or who want to know each other better. Many groups choose to do an icebreaker before or after a rafting trip on the Nolichucky River.

Initiatives and Teambuilding Activities

Half or full day teambuilding programs include an ice breaker to help your team to become comfortable, initiatives and activities to facilitate teamwork and accomplish team goals, as well as debriefing activities to enable team members to process and transfer experiences back to the group environment.

Teambuilding Options (half or full day). These programs are facilitated by Jeanne Dulworth, MSW.

  • Option I—Strengthening the Team    This program is what most people think of when they hear the words “team building”.  We engage participants in invigorating activities that focus on issues related to trust, self-capacities, risk taking, and thinking in innovative ways.  In a safe environment, participants will be challenged physically and psychologically.  This format will help team members develop a team mission and look toward the future with renewed optimism and enthusiasm.
  • Option II—Self Discovery    This program will focus on looking inward.  We build on personal skills to strengthen overall team dynamics.  Participants will experience activities outside of the ordinary that focus on personal improvement, discovery, and satisfaction.  We then discuss how to better work together to maximize personal and team strengths.  This is a great format for newly formed teams and teams experiencing difficult times.
  • Option III—Process to Product    This program will examine how team members work together to accomplish activities.  Participants will work in groups to accomplish several tasks, which will be difficult to finish.  Participants will discuss personal thoughts about which is more important - process or product - and will work together to develop a plan to utilize each team member's style.  This format is great for all types of teams.
  • Option IV—Anger Management    This program will involve different techniques to use anger in a productive way.  Participants will be engaged in activities in which they must put personal wants aside to work for the good of the team.  Participants will then discuss thoughts on how to work together under less than ideal circumstances, personal feelings about anger and much more.  This is a great format for teams who have struggled to find a common team goal.
  • Option V—Communication Skills    This program will focus on communication skills within your team.  Participants will work with other members of your team to define communication patterns, strengths and areas in need of improvement.  We then work to strengthen communication skills.  Participants will also look at the different ways we communicate with one another and ways we can communicate with congruency.  This is a great format for both newly developed and established teams.
  • Option VI--Combination    This program will combine elements from the above team building formats.  A team may want the traditional team building format (strengthening the team) with a focus on team communication.  This format will allow the team leader to customize an experience to best meet the needs of his or her team.  A Mountain Adventure Guides staff member will work with the team leader to develop the appropriate combination.

Adventure Based Teambuilding Programs (full day events with lunch and snacks provided).

Beginner Rock Climbing: Under the careful supervision of a skilled climbing guide and instructor, individual team members will be challenged with outdoor climbing and routes.  Team members will learn to belay with a backup via another member of the group. This activity builds trust, camaraderie, communication and personal strength. This activity is appropriate for a group of fit and active people.

Raft Guide: Individual team members with the assistance of their fellow team members and coaching and instruction by our senior trip leaders will learn to guide a raft on the lower Nolichucky River. This activity builds trust, camaraderie, communication and personal strength. No previous experience required.

Log Cabin Group Bunkhouse Rental
