Crockett Cabin Log Cabin Bunkhouse: Crockett Cabin is a rustic log cabin bunkhouse, located on the banks of the Nolichucky River, near Erwin, TN. The Appalachian Trail and Nolichucky River are adjacent to the Nolichucky property and there are thousands of acres of nearby National Forest for hiking and fishing. "My husband and I, along with our two friends, took a trip with USA Raft last weekend. We rafted the Nolichucky River Gorge and it was amazing! All of the rafting guides were friendly and enthusiastic. The outpost had plenty of safety and comfort gear for us to use. We were each issued splash suits, life vests and helmets (along with our paddles). After a quick bus ride and a brief - but very useful - safety talk, our adventure began. The river was definitely exciting! Our trip started and ended with some serious whitewater, with lots of exciting rafting in the middle. In between groups of rapids our guide would tell us about the surrounding area. We’re so glad we were able to get the pictures from our trip. They got some great shots! French Broad River Whitewater Rafting - the French Broad River is the closest whitewater rafting to Asheville, NC - just 30 min. The French Broad River is the ideal whitewater rafting trip for adventurous first timers and experienced rafters alike. It offers wide, open channels, beautiful mountain vistas and fun, technical, splashy rapids. There are many class 2-3 rapids on the 5 mile 1/2 day section of the French Broad River, such as Pinball, the slide, S-Turn, Stack House, Sandy Bottom and Ledges! If water levels cooperate, we will stop to take the leap into the river at JUMP ROCK and swim at SWIMMERS RAPID. The Watauga River has fast moving water with gentle rapids and then class 3 "Anaconda! Raft with kids as young as 4+ on the Watauga River! There will be guided rafts and self paddled single and double ducks, which are encouraged for active teens and adults for a more adventurous trip!
Nolichucky River Whitewater Rafting (Ages 12+. Class 3-4). With 9 miles and 25+ named class 2-4 rapids, the Nolichucky River Gorge is the most adventurous whitewater rafting trip in NC or TN. The headwaters and tributaries of the amazing Nolichucky River begin on the slopes of Mt. Mitchell, the highest mountain on the entire east coast. From there the Nolichucky rushes along the border of North Carolina and Tennessee through a raucous gorge rimmed with towering cliffs and flowery rhododendron. Worley's Cave Guided Caving - guided caving trip, near Bluff City, TN. Kids love Worley's Cave! Worley's Cave is un unspoiled, "wild cave" that is known for its voluminous size. A unique "inside" outdoor activity, Worley's Cave can be the perfect adventure for winter, or anytime! Temperatures within a cave remain constant at about 55 degrees. Explore the beauty of natural cave features and formations and learn a bit about the life and geology of an undeveloped limestone cave. We will travel through passages that are hundreds of millions of years old and visit vast rooms, such as “Fairies Ballroom,” “Tombstone,” and “Giant’s Causeway.” Recommended for active, healthy people, but experience is not required.
